About the tongue piercing
A tongue piercing heals quickly because of the mouth's blood supply, but placement still matters. We look under your tongue at the veins and the web (frenulum) to choose a spot that's safe and centered.
You'll start with a longer implant-grade titanium barbell to allow for swelling, which peaks over the first few days. Downsizing to a shorter bar afterward is important for your teeth and gums.
Placement options
What to expect at your appointment
We check your anatomy, mark the placement, use a clamp or freehand depending on your tongue, and pierce with a single-use needle. Expect noticeable swelling for 3–5 days.
Every appointment includes a free consultation, and every piercing is done with a sterile, single-use needle. We never use piercing guns, and every tool is autoclave-sterilized and individually pouched.
Healing & aftercare
Rinse with an alcohol-free mouthwash or saline after eating and drinking anything except water. Ice water helps the swelling. Avoid kissing, smoking and spicy food early on, and come back to have it downsized.
Full step-by-step instructions are in our piercing aftercare guide. If anything looks off while it's healing, call or text us. Checkups are free.
Tongue piercing FAQ
How much is a tongue piercing?
$60, including an implant-grade titanium barbell.
How long does a tongue piercing take to heal?
The swelling settles in about a week, and full healing typically takes 4–8 weeks.
Can I eat after getting my tongue pierced?
Yes. Soft, cool foods are easiest for the first few days. Rinse after every meal.
Will a tongue piercing chip my teeth?
A properly downsized barbell and not clicking it against your teeth greatly reduce the risk. Come back for your downsize.
