About the earlobe piercing
The earlobe is soft tissue, so it heals faster and hurts less than any cartilage placement. That makes it the right first piercing for most people, and the base layer for a curated ear later on.
Every lobe we do is pierced by hand with a sterile, single-use needle. Piercing guns use blunt force through the tissue and studs that can't be properly sterilized. A needle removes a clean channel and heals more predictably.
Placement options
What to expect at your appointment
We'll talk through placement and jewelry first, mark both ears and check symmetry in the mirror with you. The piercing itself takes seconds per side. Most people say the marking takes longer than the needle.
Every appointment includes a free consultation, and every piercing is done with a sterile, single-use needle. We never use piercing guns, and every tool is autoclave-sterilized and individually pouched.
Healing & aftercare
Clean with sterile saline once or twice a day and leave the jewelry alone otherwise. Sleep on the other side if you can, and keep phone screens and earbuds clean, because they're the most common cause of irritation.
Full step-by-step instructions are in our piercing aftercare guide. If anything looks off while it's healing, call or text us. Checkups are free.
Earlobe piercing FAQ
How much is an ear piercing at Union City Piercings?
A single earlobe piercing is $30, or $50 for a pair. The price includes implant-grade starter jewelry; upgraded gold or gem pieces are available in studio.
Do you use a piercing gun for ears?
No. We pierce all ears — lobes included — with single-use sterilized needles. Guns cause more tissue trauma and can't be autoclave-sterilized.
Can kids get their ears pierced?
Yes. Anyone under 18 needs a parent or legal guardian present with valid photo ID, plus signed consent forms. Ask us about the right age and jewelry for young children.
When can I change my earrings?
Leave the starter jewelry in until the piercing is fully healed — typically 3–6 months for lobes. Come back and we'll swap it for you and check the healing.
