About the conch piercing
The conch is the large, flat bowl of cartilage in the middle of your ear, named for its shell shape. An inner conch sits in the bowl beside the ear canal. An outer conch sits on the flat area between the rim and the inner ridge.
It's a great place for a statement stud, and once it's fully healed you can wear a hoop around the rim of the ear.
Placement options
What to expect at your appointment
Your piercer chooses inner or outer based on your ear and the look you want, marks it, and pierces with a single-use needle. Conch cartilage is thick, so expect a firm, deep pinch that's over quickly.
Every appointment includes a free consultation, and every piercing is done with a sterile, single-use needle. We never use piercing guns, and every tool is autoclave-sterilized and individually pouched.
Healing & aftercare
Clean with sterile saline, try not to sleep on it, and keep earbuds and headphones off it. Wait until it's fully healed before switching to a hoop.
Full step-by-step instructions are in our piercing aftercare guide. If anything looks off while it's healing, call or text us. Checkups are free.
Conch piercing FAQ
How much is a conch piercing?
$60 for an inner or outer conch, including implant-grade starter jewelry.
Can I get a hoop in my conch right away?
We start conch piercings with a stud. A hoop moves too much on fresh cartilage. After healing we can fit a conch hoop.
How long does a conch piercing take to heal?
Typically 6–12 months.
What's the difference between inner and outer conch?
Inner conch sits in the bowl next to your ear canal. Outer conch sits higher on the flat cartilage below the rim. We'll show you both on your ear before deciding.
